Affordable Neighbourhoods With Everything You Need
From reliable transit, to more parks, to greater support for local businesses — I’m advocating for communities built to support daily life across Ward Nakota Isga.
When you think about what makes a great neighbourhood, it’s not just the houses — it’s what surrounds them.
It’s being able to walk your child to the park, pick up groceries nearby, visit the library without a long drive, and catch a bus that gets you where you need to go. It’s about safety, connection, and comfort — for seniors, students, working parents, and everyone in between.
That’s what I mean when I say I’m fighting for neighbourhoods with everything you need.
I’m running to be your next City Councillor in Ward Nakota Isga to help make life more affordable — by investing in building safe public spaces, libraries that are open for longer, reliable and frequent transit, and supporting local businesses.
It also means making sure new neighbourhoods come with services built in, not bolted on years later.
The Big Picture
Edmonton’s City Plan lays out how we grow to a population of 2 million. The choices we make about land use, infrastructure, and investment today will shape the kind of city we live in tomorrow.
Endless sprawl is expensive. It stretches existing city services, eats up farmland, and leaves budgets strained. We need smart, sustainable growth that prioritizes complete, well-planned communities in our mature neighbourhoods and developing suburbs.
What This Means for Suburban Communities
Too many people in our newer neighbourhoods are left waiting — for playground equipment to be installed at a park, a grocery store to open, or a bus to run more than once an hour. We can do better.
Here’s what I’ll fight for:
Upfront opportunities for small businesses: New suburbs need clinics, shops, commercial spaces, and services nearby from the start — not just roads and houses.
Better public transit: Transit should connect people to school, appointments, and daily errands — not just downtown.
Accessible public spaces: Parks, libraries, and community spaces should be a part of the foundation of a community, we should not have to wait for neighbourhoods to be built out for these investments.
We need to tie housing density to services, enforce statutory neighbourhood plans, and ensure developers build complete communities — not just subdivisions.
What This Means for Mature Neighbourhoods
Much of Ward Nakota Isga is already built out — but that doesn’t mean we stop investing.
I’ll focus on strengthening our existing communities by:
Championing low-cost, high-impact projects like Vision Zero Street Labs, tree planting, and BIA improvements
Advocating for overdue infrastructure upgrades outlined in the City Plan — including road repairs, sidewalk renewal, and utility upgrades
Supporting thoughtful, balanced growth through zoning reforms that welcome new housing while preserving the things we love — like mature trees, walkability, and community character
Read more about my zoning platform here.
When we invest in our mature neighbourhoods, we build stronger, more connected communities for future generations.
What This Means for Local Businesses
Small businesses aren’t just part of the economy, they create community. And when our neighbourhoods thrive, so do they.
Here’s how I’ll support local businesses:
Cut red tape and simplify the process to start or grow a small business
Offer targeted tax relief to businesses impacted by construction projects like the Valley Line West
Requiring developers to build out commercial spaces areas in earlier phases of neighbourhood developments so businesses don’t have to wait years for customers
Drive foot traffic and local pride through public space improvements in both suburban and mature areas
When you can walk to your local bakery, bookstore, or café, those businesses — and your neighbourhood — thrive.
I’m ready to work for a city that puts people first. So, let’s build communities that reflect care, connection, and possibility — together.
